Our R&D is multidisciplinary and comprises of people knowledgeable in software engineering, computational biology, algorithm development, and DevOps. 

Job Description: 

NRGene is looking for a Senior Backend Developer having experience in areas of distributed computation, data pipelines, predictive analytics, and the needed DevOps to support these. The developer will be a part of a multidisciplinary team – engineers, algorithm developers and data analysts. We seek a person that loves building and shipping, is self-sufficient, has a wide range of skills and areas of knowledge, and that enjoys collaborating with colleagues to get stuff done. 

Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Design and build NRGene’s computational infrastructure. 
  • Define and implement core technologies and frameworks.
  • Develop basic methodologies for building, deploying, monitoring, and evolving our infrastructure and products.
  • Building internal research and development tools and frameworks. 
  • Help build predictive genomics models at scale. 
  • Collaborate closely with other team members of the R&D. 

Education and Experience: 

  • Fluency in Java/Python – a must.  
  • BSc and above in Computer Science / Electrical Engineering / Mathematics – a must.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering.  
  • Deep knowledge of source-control, provisioning tools, monitoring, CI/CD pipelines,  containers, and orchestrators.  
  • Wide experience with cloud-computing (AWS) And services (S3, EC2, RDS, ECS,  LAMBDA, Etc.)
  • Solid understanding of OOP fundamentals, functional programming, clean code.
  • Solid understanding of testing methodologies. 
  • Experience with asynchronous / message-based / actor-based architecture – an advantage. 
  • Experience with scalability and performance optimizations – an advantage.
  • Solid understanding of runtime environment: Linux, JVM – an advantage.
  • Experience with Scala – an advantage

  • Creative and Independent thinker, enthusiastic about solving challenging problems.
  • An ability to work closely with a team of interdisciplinary members to troubleshoot issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and verbal communications.
  • Self-motivated and independent worker.
  • Fluent English.
